When your current trolling motor batteries are failing you, it is definitely a good idea to upgrade them to a better power source. After all, you do not want to be stranded or have difficulty getting back to shore. There are different options available today, including traditional lead acid batteries, AGM batteries, and newer lithium batteries. As you go over the selection of trolling motor batteries for sale, you will want to consider these tips to help you make an informed choice:
- Consider the battery type – You will want a deep cycle battery for your trolling motor, as it is designed to discharge minimal amounts of current over an extended period. The usual options include AGM and lead acid wet-cell batteries, but if you want something with a longer run time and requires infrequent recharging, consider lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4).
- Stop using your old batteries – You may be tempted to mix your old battery with the new trolling motor batteries for sale, but don’t do it. Don’t even keep the old ones as spare, as they may become unreliable in case of an emergency.
